According to an ATSB report over 2/3 of Victorians believe speed enforcement is primarily about revenue raising up from 50% a decade ago.
Predictably, RACV general manager Ken Ogden defended the cameras saying the perception was "understandable, but unfortunate" and "Speed enforcement is an important part of road safety, but it must have community support". Given the clear and unequivocal policies of the Bracks government, we find it is amazing that the figure is not higher. Recent debacles involving Tenix and the Western Ring road have reinforced the view that it's all about the money. Victoria, the place to be ... fleeced.
