Motorists association supports SA independent candidate John Bannon. The National Motorists Association Australia Inc. announced their full support for Mr John Bannon who is a candidate running for election in the South Australian upper house."I have spoken to Mr Bannon and visited his campaign website and am confident that he is keen to fight for the rights and interests of motorists." motorist association President Mr Bates said today. "Any candidate who fully supports motorists naturally attracts our full support". Mr Bannon is running as an independent on a platform based on representing motorists and ensuring that the upper house acts as a genuine house of review not just a rubber stamp for the actions of members' political parties in the lower house. "The exploitation of motorists at the petrol pump, lack of justice in courts, and inaction on the leading causes of road crashes are issues which Mr Bannon has indicated he will address" said Bates "These are all issues which have concerned motorists and continue to concern us. We would be more than happy to have someone in Parliament actually doing something to address them." "Mr Bannon seems to be guarded in his comments about his prospects of being elected" noted Bates. "However, as Motor magazine pointed out he should have a good chance of gaining entry into parliament. Who else is making such a firm stand for such a large slice of the population? Argued Bates. "The energy he displays by running this political campaign at the same time that he is fighting for land rights for his aboriginal clients and raising two children is truly remarkable. It is certainly confidence inspiring to see such energy in someone who has volunteered to shoulder such an important task." Said Bates. "We need people like Mr Bannon in parliament and wish him well with his campaign." said Mr Bates For Comment, please contact: Michael Bates, President, National Motorists Association Australia
