You probably think that the official propaganda sounds plausible. Speeding we are told is dangerous. Those who profit from speeding tickets seem to blame exceeding the speed limit for anything from increasing crash risk to being a factor promoting tooth decay. Messages about the dangers of "speeding" are often followed by comments that the government doesn't want the money they just want to promote safety. You probably repose a high degree of trust in people in positions of authority and believe that there must be a safety reason for setting speed limits. After all the people we entrust with protecting our lives should promote our interests not seek revenue.
The reason that someone of reasonable intellect can take this view is that you haven't had any reason to question the graphic images shown on TV and haven't had the opportunity to compare it with real life speeding ticketing. You haven't had the experience of carefully heading down the highway slightly over the speed limit safely coordinating with the flow of traffic only to see the police in the distance pointing a speed detection device at you. Your heart races as you glance at the speedo and your foot hits the brake. You weren't deliberately exceeding the speed limit but technology used by the police is so sophisticated that they have beaten you to the speed check.
You know you were driving carefully and safely but you know that you will be punished and the drivers licence you rely upon has been eaten into with demerit points. This may well be a strong emotional experience. If you haven't had the experience before you will feel guilty because you don't want to endanger people by "speeding". The revenue raising cartel have told you endlessly that speed kills. You therefore analyse your experience to the nth degree worrying that you might have been a public menace. Yet try as you may to relieve your guilt by figuring out why you were driving dangerously and taking the punishment on the chin there is no rational explanation for labelling your behaviour as dangerous. You think that somehow it is unfair that you have been booked for speeding when you were safely exceeding the speed limit. Bingo! There is supposed to be no such thing as safe speeding. You realize the Emperor really isn't wearing any clothing. It is all about money.
Without this experience it is harder to understand what drivers/riders are complaining about. All the comments about revenue raising sounds like self serving excuses. You have had the emotional experience of seeing countless children slaughtered by drivers going 10kph above the speed limit in television land. This website can't balance that emotional experience with the emotional experience described above which jolts many people into reality checking. This website doesn't try to. To benefit from this site you will need to look past emotion. However in doing so be assured that you will feel strong emotions about authorities neglect of road safety and their money grab. This site will show quite clearly that speeding ticket type enforcement is nothing more than a revenue grab.
Safety does not benefit from punishing people going slightly over the current speed limits. The supposed dangers of the "ten above" are nonsense. The research and practical experience provides irrefutable evidence that "revenue raising" should be discontinued and speed limits should be set in such a way that road crashes are minimised. Authorities should know better.
The argument data base is aimed to arm people who see speeding ticketing as revenue raising with in depth information showing that official propaganda is clearly wrong. It isn't aimed at persuading you. However you have two choices. You can keep an open mind, read the evidence on these pages, and see that it weighs overwhelmingly AGAINST the excuses for speeding tickets. Or you can stay in your comfort zone, repress the information provided here, and rationalise anything too salient away with some rationalisation that has a feeling of relevance - but clearly isn't if you look at it honestly and logically. If you take the second option you can move on with your life and maintain your long held beliefs. You may even call for lower speed limits and more speed enforcement after promptly forgetting the reasons that these can get people killed. It is your choice. It is your life. However if you make a choice that gets people killed please be clear from these pages that you won't have the support of this organisation.
